'Fresh' Movie Review- Love It Or Leave It?

If you have Hulu, you are well-aware Sebastian Stan is king of the streaming service. His portrayal of Tommy Lee in 'Pam and Tommy' is unparalleled. It is hard to look away when he is on the screen with the dynamic Lily James in the role of Pamela Anderson. So when Hulu announced Stan's latest film 'Fresh' would be available March 4th, fans were overjoyed. What started out as a sweet RomCom about the mishaps of dating quickly shifted a half hour in. It was very clear that this was about to be a ride you may want to get off even with Stan as the titular role of Steve. Here's the initial synopsis by 3 Ice Cubes:

Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is tired of online dating though she keeps on trying. She heads to a date with a man who reminds her to bring cash so they can go Dutch. He is the reason why dating is painful and even takes her leftovers, the ones she paid cash for. When he insists they go out again after it is clear he is an epic dud, Noa lets him down gently but he retaliates and calls her horrid names. A few days later, she meets sweet Steve (Stan) at the grocery store. She reluctantly gives him her number, they have a great first date and end up sleeping together. It all goes so well, she ends up going away with him. Little does she know, he is not what he says he is.

This is when we had to Wikipedia the plot because it is getting way to creepy and it turns out to be a romantic thriller. SPOILERS AHEAD: Steve is actually a cannibal who harvests women for a lot of money. He wants to harvest Noa's body parts but very slowly as he has grown an affection for her. Her best friend Mollie is worried when she realizes Noa has been gone for too long and starts to investigate Steve. He is actually married, his wife knows what he is doing, and it all ends very badly.

To sum it up, Sebastian Stan is amazing as a charming psycho killer, Daisy is delightful as the tough heroine, and the supporting cast helps to hold up this insane film. You may not want to eat any meat ever again after watching this so proceed with caution. It is beyond disgusting but girl power is strong and it is further proof that Stan can literally play any part. 'Fresh' is now streaming on Hulu.
