credit: YouTube Anyone familiar with the work of Brian Jordan Alvarez already knows that he is a comedic genius. Just take a glance at his Instagram account and the characters he portrays are mindblowing. All of that wit, humor, and heart is now pouring into FX's brilliant new dramedy, English Teacher . There, Alvarez portrays gay high school English teacher Evan Marquez, determined to make a difference in the world. In the world, that means the heart of his students who can rib him but they love him all the same. By his side are fellow teacher and best friend, Gwen Sanders ( Stephanie Koenig ) and gym teacher, Markie Hillridge ( Sean Patton ).  The trials and tribulations accompanied by the real-life politics of high school are challenged by Evan Marquez in a heartfelt but powerful way. One example is the book banning of The Great Gatsby . Yet, it has been taught by teachers for decades. Or, the ideology that Powderpuff, where the girls play football and the boys cheerlead for...

credit: Instagram Khloe Kardashian is about to be a mom of two. People can confirm that Khloe and her ex, Tristan Thompson are expecting their second child together. However, this baby will be born via surrogate. Fans of The Kardashians know that the first season ended with Khloe discovering Tristan had cheated on her. More so, he had fathered a baby with someone else so it was a hot mess. Still, Khloe has always wanted another baby from him despite him being unfaithful. She was high risk so a surrogate was her best option. Their daughter, True is four years old and the second baby was conceived back in November. This means the surrogate is due around next month. Whether or not it will all be shown on Season 2 of the show is yet to be seen. It returns to Hulu in September so get ready for a real ride. What do you think of Khloe having another baby with Tristan?

credit: Instagram We said it all along and now, the day has come. Hulu's Pam & Tommy landed 10 Emmy nominations. The eight-part miniseries, based on the stolen sex tape of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee , captivated audiences. Much like the tape it was based on, the series was too good to look away from. Furthermore, it put all of the pieces into place. This was THE real first celebrity sex tape that went viral yet it was the backstory behind how it got leaked that was equally as captivating. The "characters" who are really just simulations of real-life larger-than-life personas were brilliantly played by Sebastian Stan (Tommy Lee) and Lily James (Pam Anderson).  Yes, it was questionable casting but the moment S. Stan stepped onto the screen in his thong and robe, it was clear they made the best decision ever. As for Lily James, she was beyond phenomenal that it was hard to see her out of costume. After watching the eight episodes (and craving more), it was clear t...

Credit: Fresh Movie Instagram If you have Hulu , you are well-aware Sebastian Stan is king of the streaming service. His portrayal of Tommy Lee in 'Pam and Tommy' is unparalleled. It is hard to look away when he is on the screen with the dynamic Lily James in the role of Pamela Anderson. So when Hulu announced Stan's latest film 'Fresh' would be available March 4th, fans were overjoyed. What started out as a sweet RomCom about the mishaps of dating quickly shifted a half hour in. It was very clear that this was about to be a ride you may want to get off even with Stan as the titular role of Steve. Here's the initial synopsis by 3 Ice Cubes: Noa ( Daisy Edgar-Jones ) is tired of online dating though she keeps on trying. She heads to a date with a man who reminds her to bring cash so they can go Dutch. He is the reason why dating is painful and even takes her leftovers, the ones she paid cash for. When he insists they go out again after it is clear he is an e...

Credit: Pam and Tommy On Hulu Instagram Early this morning, the long-awaited premiere of 'Pam and Tommy' started streaming on Hulu . It is loosely based on the events that led to the release of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's sex tape. Stolen from their home, it can truly be considered one of the first major celebrity sex tapes. This takes viewers back to 1995 and the events that transpired, leading up to the tape being stolen and ultimately released to the world. Starring Sebastian Stan as Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and Lily James as Pamela Anderson, it is hard to look away. The transformation of the two actors is simply incredible and beyond mind-blowing. For that alone, it is worth the watch. Stan flawlessly plays Lee who is categorically a douche, deserving of the heist that leads to the sex tape being stolen. James, for her part, is beyond stunning in her innocent yet sexy portrayal of Anderson. The two of them exude love, passion, and pure sex. It is like watchi...

Credit: HIMYF Instagram Spinoffs are hard and especially tough when the series being spun-off is so beloved. Such is the case with the new Hulu series 'How I Met Your Father,' a new take on the hit comedy 'How I Met Your Mother' which starred Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris , and ran for nine seasons. Hilary Duff is taking over the titular role of Sophie or the "storyteller" which was originated by Josh Radnor's Ted. In the original, Bob Saget voiced an adult Ted speaking to his children about how he met their mother, who viewers would not meet until the end of the show's run. Saget was never seen though the teenage children were.  In the spinoff, the year is 2050 and Kim Catrall is an elder Sophie. She is featured over her children and as she sips her wine, she has her son on video chat. There she is telling him the story of how she met his father. The show then goes back to 2022. Sophie is having fun and sharing her mishaps in the dating worl...

photo courtesy of abc.com If you're anything like me, you grew up on 'Supermarket Sweep' or possibly saw the reruns. It was my most favorite game show, next to 'Press Your Luck,' so to to find out there was going to be a reboot made me beyond thrilled. I imagined myself answering questions and running through the aisles in one those extremely tacky sweatshirts; I was so ready! Since I do not have ABC, I had to watch the replay on Hulu this morning and I was ready, with my coffee in hand. Gone is original host, David Ruprecht and in is comedian and former- 'SNL' star, Leslie Jones . Let me break down the pros and the cons. I always like to start with the positives so here we go.

photo courtesy of cbs.com Hey 2020- stop attacking us! One of my absolute favorite comedies is going to see a huge shift in its upcoming season; the highly-rated sitcom, 'Mom,' which is now entering its eighth season, is losing one of its main characters. Anna Faris , who plays Christy Plunkett, announced she is leaving the series after being there since day one. In a statement to Us Weekly , the 43-year-old actress had this to say:   “The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career. I’m so thankful to Chuck [Lorre], the writers and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.” She, along with Oscar-winner, Allison Janney, play mother and daughter and have led this show for seven years, leading it to be picked up for the seventh and eight season...

photo courtesy of bravotv.com When we last left the 'RHOC' ladies...well, I don't really remember where we left them because season 14 was quite forgetful, to be honest. OG cast mate, Vicki Gunvalson became a "friend of" but kept herself relevant by becoming engaged to boyfriend, Steve Lodge; Kelly Dodd was on/off with doctor boyfriend, Brian and was the subject of several harsh rumors, directly fueled by Gunvalson; Gina Kirschenheiter ended her marriage with Matt but then started hooking up with him again as she tried to come back from a DUI and a bad bleach job; Emily Simpson tried to support her husband, Shane as he studied for the bar exam and neglected his family while needling his wife who was desperate to get her body back; Shannon Storms Beador was back in shape and was trying to find a new partner; Tamra Judge tried to manage her sons who butted heads; and newcomer, Braunwyn Windham-Burke juggled seven kids and trying to be loyal to bestie...

photo courtesy of bravotv.com Losing a loved one during a time where we cannot even go to places of worship or funerals; it is just a disasters amidst a global pandemic. There are no words so when 'RHONJ' star and OG, Teresa Giudice asked fans for prayers for her father, we all hoped he was having a hard time being cooped up, like all of us, despite longstanding health issues. Unfortunately, it was a lot more serious and, early this morning, Giacinto Gorga, passed away. He was 76. In a series of three photos on Giudice's Instagram , the mother of four posted a tribute to her dad (he is also the father to Joey Gorga , husband to fellow housewife, Melissa): "My father, my protector, my hero, God took you early this morning to be with mommy, I saw you peacefully pass & I know you kept fighting for my daughters and I. I have so many amazing thoughts of you, every day seeing you in the kitchen at my home, teaching my girls to cook, my partner in crime on shop...

photo courtesy of bravotv, com Now this is the kind of drama I can get behind! Bravo has officially released the season 10 trailer for the 'RHOBH' and it is insane; literally, a head-spinner. Friendships are tested as longtime besties, Denise Richards and Lisa Rinna go head-to-head while pregnant Teddi Mellencamp is challenged by newcomer, Sutton. We also see the first African-American of the BH squad, Garcelle Beauvais and it is hard to see if she will dominate or be over these queens. Familiar faces from seasons past are back such as Brandi Glanville, Adrienne Maloof, Kim Richards, Eileen Davidson, morally corrupt Faye Resnick (as if she really left), and Camille Grammer Meyer, whom, after last season, said she would never return. LIESSSSSS. And now, without further ado, the trailer! And, since I am sure we have all come up with our own real housewives taglines whilst watching the different cities and such, I find this meme very fitting for trailer release day...

photo courtesy of bravotv, com First, former 'RHONY' star, Carole Radziwill came out and spoke about how she no longer had any friendship with Tinsley Mortimer and how their friend-mance was somewhat staged for the series. I still think Carole was envious Tins was younger and prettier but I digress. Now, there is seemingly another defunct New York friendship and it is between the Countess and longtime friend, Barbara Kavovit . As you may remember, Countess Luann de Lesseps brought Kavovit onto the show as a "friend of" last season though she had known some of the housewives prior. She was also seen during season nine talking to Ms. Radziwill about the Countess marrying her now ex-husband, Tom D'Agostino. She was heading to Florida for the New Years nuptials and was claiming Luann would rather the marriage end in divorce than admit Tom was not a great guy even though we all saw him cheating on her a week into the engagement at the end of season eight, th...

*WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT PROVIDED ME WITH A FREE COPY OF THE DVD I REVIEWED IN THIS BLOG POST. THE OPINIONS I SHARE ARE MY OWN.* Even though 'Veronica Mars' left our TV screens on May 22, 2007 after three solid seasons, it definitely left its mark on popular culture. The series helped launch and solidify series star, Kristen Bell , as a star and fans were so eager for more Mars and Bell, a film was released in 2014. But, in a time of endless revivals, there was still a heavy demand for the drystery (drama/mystery) and Hulu saw this when Mars was brought back for a season four (some deem it a season one-2019). Unlike the other seasons, with 20+ episodes, the revival only consisted of eight and saw the return of Bell in the pivotal role.  Now, season one (2019) is coming to DVD for your viewing pleasure, with all eight episodes along with the cast at San Diego Comic-Con. This cast appearance was what prompted Hulu to move the premiere date of the series up one ...

photo courtesy of emmys.com Since 'The Act' debuted on Hulu, we have been waiting impatiently for the Emmy nominations. In our minds, from the premiere episode, Patricia Arquette and Joey King were Emmy musts as was the limited series. Addicting and it gave you all of the feels, it was gaining award season buzz early on so we were beyond elated today to hear the nominations. Joey King (Gypsy Rose Blanchard) was nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie for her role in 'The Act' as the accomplice to her mother's murder after being a victim of munchausen by proxy. She will go up against her 'The Act' mother/co-star, Patricia Arquette for her highly-acclaimed role in 'Escape at Dannemora' ; Amy Adams in 'Sharp Objects' ; Niecy Nash in 'When They See Us' ; Michelle Williams in 'Fosse/Verdon' ; and Aunjanue Ellis in 'When They See Us.'  photo courtesy of imdb.com But, Arquet...

photo courtesy of bravotv.com Here we are, nearing the end of season nine of 'RHOBH' and, what started off as a blah season, has had quite an exciting ending...off-screen, that is. We have lost OG, Lisa Vanderpump, when she opted not to come to the reunion and announced she would not return for season 10 (do we need a season 10 and another year of puppygate? Asking for a friend). If you have Hulu, you can very easily retrace the beginnings of the BH series, with season one airing all day today on Bravo. There are actually some people you look at throughout the years and go "she was on the show? I plum forgot about her! Did I like her?" So, let's take it back to October 14, 2010 and a town called Beverly Hills and find out where some of the long lost ladies have gone.  - Kyle Richards Umansky : still on the series and to put it in perspective, we celebrated her eldest daughter, Farrah graduating from college in season 1. A few episodes ago, Kyle threw Far...

photo courtesy of youtube.com When Gypsy Rose Blanchard was sentence to 10 years in prison in July 2015 for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee, it seemed like she would have a second chance at rebuilding the life she had seemingly lost. For most of her years, she was a victim of Munchausen by proxy, believing she had every ailment under the sun and never knowing her real age (she was in her 20s though she believed she was a teen). Her mother spent years convincing the medical community, fans, friends, support groups, and even Gypsy's father, Rod, that Gypsy was mentally challenged and was not capable of doing things on her own, including walking. Though both mother and daughter knew this last part was untrue, it came to a point where Gypsy felt the only way out of her situation was to completely erase her mom.  Swayed by fantasies and heroes in fairy tales, she met Nick Godejohn on a Christian dating website and he shared he had multiple personalities, though undiagn...

photo courtesy of imdb.com 'Dirty John'  was the best limited series in a long time and we were lucky to have a handful of jaw-dropping episodes to watch every Sunday on Bravo. Hulu has followed suit with the based on true events limited series, 'The Act,' starring the brilliant Patricia Arquette and breakout, Joey King . The show documents the lives of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a very twisted relationship between mother and daughter that ended in murder. For years, Dee Dee had convinced everyone around her, everywhere she went, and pretty much in the world that daughter, Gypsy, was very ill, gaining her fame, notoriety, and a lot of charitable contributions. She claimed she suffered from an array of ailments, forced her to use a wheelchair, shave her head, and undergo unneeded surgeries, as well as take unwarranted meds. It was deemed, after her passing, Dee Dee suffered from Munchhausen syndrome by proxy ; it was Gypsy's boyfriend, Nick Godejo...

photo courtesy of amazon.com It always seems when your favorite shows get cancelled, they may find second life on Netflix of possibly Hulu. Sadly, even subscription services need a fanbase in order to keep shows in rotation and when numbers drop, executives have to make some serious decisions...and cuts viewers may not always be in favor of. Today, it was announced the 'One Day At a Time' revival would be leaving after season three.Though the show was beloved and groundbreaking, even getting this third season based on a Twitter campaign, there just aren't enough viewers to make a fourth season worth the money. That being said, the show will be shopped around to other networks and it could find new life on Amazon Prime, Hulu, or a cable network. But, that is not the only show Netflix has had to drop the axe on. Here are some more shows not seeing another season: -The Get Down -Haters Back Off! -The Punisher -Jessica Jones -Friends From College -Nightflyers An...

photo courtesy of A Star Is Born Facebook Mandi here and typically, I don't fancy movie theaters. I grew up with my dad constantly taking me to movies every single week until there was not a movie we hadn't seen, good or bad. Fast forward 22 years and I am extremely opposed to spending $10 on a ticket, $7 on popcorn and $5 on a drink just for an "ehhhh" movie. The last film I saw was "Jigsaw" about a year ago because I love me some "Saw" films but I have rules: unless it is part of a horror franchise I am obsessed with; has four main characters named Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda; or has singing chipmunks, I am probably going to wait until it comes out on DVD or to cable, Hulu, or Netflix. But, my mom and I are extremely close and we keep picking movies we say we will go see and never end up finding the time. Then, "A Star Is Born" was fixing to come out and I knew mom really wanted to see it. I was also curious to see...

For those of you who have been on social media and were big "The Real L Word" fans, as I was, you pretty much know, via photos and quick captions, what the most popular stars of the show are up to today. Whitney and Sada are still married, Rose co-hosts a radio show, Jill and Nikki are parents, Lauren and Kiyomi have split but what about Romi? The former make-up artist left fans of the show that ran three seasons on Showtime baffled at the end of the series when she married a man. After a bevy of passionate relationships with women, some fans felt as though she had betrayed the series and what it was all about: women in lesbian relationships but in fact, she was only being honest to herself.  Romi Klinger, now Romi Imbelli , really just seemed to love, regardless of gender and that was clear throughout the series. She has always been very into family, her father passed when she was in her twenties and she has special needs brothers after her father w...
