"The Hunger Games" was a phenomenon all in itself but what about the sequel "Catching Fire" just released? It was called a good movie but subpar to the original film yet that did not stop fans from going to the theaters in swarms. The Jennifer Lawrence helmed film raked in over $161 million dollars, beating out "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," released in 2009.
The latter film raked in $142 million dollars, giving "Catching Fire" the top grossing November film. It is also now the 4th highest grossing weekend film of all-time following "Marvel's The Avengers," "Iron Man: 3" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2." This sequel also made about ten million dollars more than the original and totaled $25.3 million dollars opening night, 11/21-11/22. Congratulations to the whole cast and crew. Guess it was worth the hair damage, huh J. Law?
