What Was the Twist Behind the "How I Met Your Mother" Finale?

We know what we have learned from the series finale of "How I Met Your Mother" but there were a few things that we did not know. For example, all of the scenes with Ted's teenage kids were filmed during the first season for age issues. And second of all, Josh Radnor aka Ted has his own thoughts on the epic finale, which he knew about all along. Most did not want to know how the series would end but Radnor stayed in the loop and pretty much knew what the final outcome would be from day 1:
"They had mentioned to me the twist about the mother in the first season, and I kind of put it out of my head. I didn't know if they would actually want to come back to it and do that, especially after Cristin (Tracy, the mother), because she was so wonderful and the fans seemed to really take to her. So I asked them, 'Are you guys still doing that?' And they said yeah." He saw the writers dropping hints about Ted and Robin ending up together in the end and really, in my opinion, that is what the fans wanted. There has been much controversy about the finale but I really think that they did the long-running sitcom justice. Radnor is very happy with how the show ended and understands that the fans are having a hard time with it. But he firmly believes that in time, they will learn to appreciate it.
