Kudos go out to Pamela Anderson as the former "Baywatch" star and mom of two has used her fame to bring attention to a very serious subject: rape. Sure, we see her as the sex-crazed over the top Tommy Lee face licking blonde bombshell but maybe there is a reason she hides behind so much. Less than a year ago, she chopped her signature long locks into a pixie, maybe to finally show who she really is.
During the launch of The Pamela Anderson Foundation, the 46-year-old recalled how she was molested at six by a female baby-sitter. And it did not stop there as she was later raped at twelve by an acquaintance, thirteen years her senior. Though the event was to promote animal advocacy, Anderson took the time to let us in to her world and see what she has had to endure out of the spotlight. "I did not have an easy childhood. Despite loving parents, I was molested from age six by a female babysitter. I went to a friend's boyfriend's house and his older brother decided to teach me backgammon, which led into a back massage, which led into rape. He was 25 years old and I was 12." Later on, a boyfriend allegedly decided to gang-rape her with six of his friends and that was enough to send her over the edge. Correlation to animals? They helped her heal through these utterly traumatic times. "My affinity with animals saved me, they came to me naturally. The trees spoke to me. I wasn't sure why I was alive – a burning question, a quest. My loyalty remained with the animal kingdom. I vowed to protect them and only them. I prayed to the whales with my feet in the ocean, my only real friends until I had children." Her mission was to let everyone in attendance, including husband Rick Salomon know that anything can be overcome! Thank you Pamela for coming out and revealing such sadness and heartbreak.
