I was ready to find out where he was now after "Designing Women" was brought back in reruns to LOGO. Now, we have our answer and sadly, it is not a good one. Meshach Taylor has passed away late Saturday evening at the age of 67 from cancer. If you don't remember him as the feisty assistant on DW, then you must remember him from "Mannequin" and its less successful sequel "Mannequin 2: On the Move." His mother, wife and children were by his side as he slipped into the night to join former DW co-star Dixie Carter.
Prior to his passing, Taylor's family sensed that he was getting ready so they posted this to his Facebook page: "It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition. Our friends who know and love us, please offer your prayers for his peace and blazing light as he ascends to the heavens. Those who need to call the family please do. Those who desire to post memories, we are open and graciously accepting all gestures of peace. Love, the Taylor family." If that does not break your heart, I don't know what will! He will be greatly missed and I will always remember him fondly as the super colorful window dresser from the movies and the one man to survive those Southern Belles. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and co-stars at this time. We wish the Emmy-nominee much peace "as he ascends to the heavens."
