Penny Marshall has passed away at 75 due to complications from diabetes. She is survived by her sister, Ronny Hallin and daughter, Tracy Reiner, 54 as well as five grandchildren. She was predeceased by brother, Garry Marshall, who passed in July 2016 and, like his sister, was a household name. Penny was featured on "The Odd Couple" as Myrna Turner but it was her turn as Laverne DeFazio on "Happy Days" that secured a spot in America's hearts and led to the spin-off "Laverne and Shirley." She went on to become a famed director with beloved films, such as "Big" and "A League of Their Own," which she also produced. She was married to Rob Reiner for 10 years, who released a statement via Twitter regarding his ex-wife: "I loved Penny. I grew up with her. She was born with a great gift. She was born with a funnybone and the instinct of how to use it. I was very lucky to have lived with her and her funnybone. I will miss her." Penny showed women how to be funny, to be strong, to be kick ass, and how to succeed. Women rule the world and now they are dominating the heavens. She will be missed and was taken way too soon but we have a firm stamp on Hollywood thanks to the Marshall family!
