Kim Cattrall's Anticlimactic 'AJLT' Finale Return

It is time for the long-awaited Season 2 And Just Like That finale. This means that Kim Cattrall will finally be reprising her role as Samantha Jones. Of course, fans know that she had opted to not be a part of the reboot. Her character was sent off to London and communicated infrequently, mainly in times of crisis. There have been many crises in the two seasons yet she has not really come running. Then, it came out that she would have a small cameo in the Season 2 finale and fans wondered what her role would be. It is well-known that she and Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) do not get along so her presence has been covered by new cast members. It still felt a little off with her not around.

However, knowing the backstory between her and the cast, plus how she felt about the show at this time in her life, having her back felt a bit like a sham. Thursday, August 24th, the finale premiered on max and it was time for Samantha to return, which she did. *SPOILER ALERT* Samantha was there within the first five minutes, calling from London. She was set to surprise Carrie for her final dinner at her OG apartment which she had sold. Carrie had no idea she was even flying in but there were problems with her flight so she would not be able to make it.

Therefore, she had Carrie hold the phone up while on speaker so she could give it a sendoff. She also broke out a name that she had called herself during the original run. Then, she bid her adieu and was done. That was it. Nothing more. Maybe if fans did not know about the dissension between Cattrall and the cast, it would have been more powerful, or if she had FaceTimed during the actual dinner, this might have worked. Yet, it was a poor attempt at getting her on the show. Sadly, it did not work and it is clear she is no longer needed. They had their chance and could have done so much more with Cattrall who is amazing on How I Met Your Father.

Have you watched the finale yet? It is now streaming on max and will return for Season 3 as it was just renewed.

Initially based in California, the show followed the lives of a handful of gay women, somehow intertwined in life, and what it was like to date, fall in love, have sex, try to make babies, propose, be successful, and so much more. By the final season, the series went bi-coastal, utilizing NYC as a playground, as well. The show ended in 2012 with two weddings and a lot of tears. So, where are they now?
